HUGE Semi Annual Book Sale

If you’re looking for an old or new favorite to treasure, visit us at our Semi-Annual Book Sale We have lots of items including videos, CDs, audio books, and print materials for any age. Individual items available by donation of your choice; minimum donation of $5 per grocery bag, $20 per box. Hours vary as shown:

  • Wednesday 10A-4P
  • Thursday 10A-8P
  • Friday 10A-4P (Enter through MEETING ROOM door,
    the library is closed today!)
  • Saturday 10A-4P

Audiobooks, eBooks, & more for your computer, cell phone, iPod®, Kindle, Nook
or eBook reader...it’s easy!

We have joined the Ohio Library eBook Project  - our patrons are now able to enjoy hundreds of popular titles with a few simple steps.

Easy to use • no late fees • available 24/7!

What You Need:

  1. An internet connection via PC, Mac or select mobile devices.
  2. A valid library card.
  3. Free, required software
    - For audiobooks on PC, Mac and mobile devices:
    OverDrive Media Console
    - For PDF and EPUB eBooks on PC, Mac
    and many eBook devices: Adobe Digital Editions.

How It Works:

Step 1: Browse

  1. Browse Alexandria’s selections at: http:/ohdbks.lib.overdrive.com
  2. Search by title, subject, author or format.

Step 2: Check Out

  1. Add selections to your “cart”. NOTE: If a title is not available, you may place a hold. You’ll receive an email when the title is available.
  2. Click on the “Proceed to Checkout” link.

Step 3: Download...enjoy!

  1. Click the “Download” button under each title to launch the software. See “What You Need” (above) for required software.
  2. Once downloaded, enjoy immediately or transfer to a variety of devices including iPod, Kindle, Nook ,Sony Reader and other devices.

Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees!

Transfer to a Mobile Device

After download, most titles can be transferred to a mobile device such as iPod, Kindle, Nook or Sony Reader. First connect your device, then:

  1. For audio and video, click the “transfer” button in OverDrive Media Console to launch the Transfer Wizard and follow the onscreen prompts.
    For eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions, drag and drop the title onto the device name on the left panel.
  2. After transfer is complete, you may disconnect your device and enjoy your title on the go.

Burn to CD

After download, many audio titles can be burned to CD. First insert your CD, then:

  1. Click the “Burn” button in OverDrive Media Console to launch the Burn Wizard.
  2. Select the part you wish to burn. When the burn process is complete, you may enjoy your title on the go.

Monthly Online Newsletter

We forward monthly flyers by email to any subscribed patrons as well as having printed copies available in the library. If you would like to have your copy mailed, please contact the library by phone at 740.924.3561 or by email. We're hoping that by updating the information monthly, we'll be better able to keep our patrons aware of current programming.

Super Soup Saturday

Saturday, January 28 starting at 11:30AM

Calling all soup chefs! If you’re famous for your amazing stew, veggie soup or clam chowder, we invite you to share with our library community and win a $25 gift certificate that proves you’re the best! We’ll be offering our patrons a taste of any or all soups submitted. Judging by our Library Friends. All entries must be submitted by 11:30AM on Saturday, January 28 for consideration. FREE taste testing until the soup runs out!


Adult Book Club

Friday, January 20 at 10:30AM

All adults are welcome to participate in monthly book discussions. For a morning of fun call 740.924.3561, email Miss Martha or stop by the library to join the Book Club. You need not be available every month in order to participate.


We will be discussing The Girl Who Fell from the Sky by Heidi Durrow. If you are new and would like to join us, please call the library at 924-3561 or click on the book cover to reserve a copy of this book.

Enter by the meeting room door, as the library is closed on Fridays.

FREE Access to Ancestry Library Edition!

Record your histroy and find others on the same path. Ancestry Library Edition features helpful tools such as charts, summaries, calendars and message boards. Beginners can use the tools and resources in the Learning Center to: begin their family trees; get the most out of historical records; connect with other researchers; and find answers to tough research questions.

 

This database is available for use to any registered patron of the Alexandria Public Library. You will have to bring your wireless access laptop to the library, or use our computers to utilize this amazing resource.
